First Stop....Tours, France

France is the first place that I will be staying while in Europe this summer. I am spending a WHOLE MONTH there for an intensive language study abroad and I can't wait. While I am there I will be staying with a host family, which I think will make the experience so much more fun. Naturally, one of the things I want to see is while in France is the EIFFEL TOWER! There are three levels that you can go up to. The first and second levels have souvenir stores and restaurants on them and the third level goes to the very top where there are amazing views and historical facts about the eiffel tower. And may I just say, how awesome would dinner be on top of the eiffel tower?? Pretty amazing, but way too expensive, 90 euros for one entree....YIKES! I think I will just eat at home before I go. It costs $10 to go to the top, but I think thats totally worth it. I mean it was the tallest building in the world until the empire state building came along! Look how big it is!

Did you know that in 1923 a man rode a bicycle down one of the legs of the Eiffel Tower from the first level?????? CRAZY! (That story may or may not be true......)

  1. I love Paris. I've been to the Eiffel Tower many times. If you want good and fairly affordable food, the best area to have lunch and/or dinner is the Notre Dame area. If you like crepes, there is a Haagen-Daaz around Notre Dame and they are the best crepe I've had in Paris. Also, pretty cheap. 2-3 Euro for crepe. My favourite drink is Orangina. You should try that. It's slightly pulpy orange/tangy soda. My description doesn't give it justice, but trust me, it's GOOD stuff. Also, you must go to the real Bourbon street at night. It's quite an experience and they have some good Greek gyros. souvenir shops, I would compare prices. I was just recently there for MLK weekend and while buying souvenirs, there is 1-3 Euro difference in prices selling the same things. My favourite souvenirs in France are the scarves. They sell the cutest scarves off the street. Anyways, if you need any more info, just let me know! I hope this helps you out somewhat.
